Oracle DBA Manager
Our client requires an experienced Oracle DBA Manager to start ASAP. You will have complete authority and responsibility for all DBA work, accountable for all actions. This Involves management of databases and applications. Live and test applications including providing ad-hoc Oracle DBA and Oracle Apps R12 DBA support. Key responsibilities include:
* The management of all changes to the components of the live infrastructure, from Supportworks Helpdesk Tickets through to implementation and review, to support the continued availability, effectiveness and safety of the infrastructure.
* Perform Oracle installations and upgrades, cloning and refreshes for Project teams, whilst providing Oracle related technical support for all relevant teams, working closely with Business Systems Developers and Analysts, Systems Accountant, Systems Operations Support Team, Functional Business Analysts in producing developments that assist in the continual improvement of business processes and execution of the company business.
* Supporting and maintaining existing systems, including bug fixing and receiving and recording problems and providing resolutions.
* Application of database security patches.
* Initiate the development of systems to monitor, measure and report on service delivery, identify any changes to business and service requirements.
* Management and maintenance of all Oracle passwords.
* Sharing information on emerging database trends and new technologies, and identify areas for improvement.
* Managing, assisting, developing and guiding DBAs and more junior IS department staff.
* Perform such other duties and responsibilities appropriate to this position.
* Understanding of VMWare i.e. VM creation from templates, snapshots and storage maintenance
Key Skills:
* Oracle E-Business Applications (11i/R12) DBA experience in Oracle RDMS 11g R2 with RAC ASM /RedhHat Linux /Windows /HP SANS gained in production, test and development environments.
* Evidence in career history of sound experience and significant responsibility on Oracle E-Business implementations and upgrades, including, cloning, performance tuning and resolution of crisis situations such as database crashes. Backups and recoveries using RMAN, Veeam and Netbackup.
* Extensive knowledge of the Oracle toolset.
* Excellent understanding of Oracle patching techniques, Opatch and Adpatch utilities, problem resolving, Metalink and SR logging.
* Knowledge of architecture and operating of Oracles BI environment.
* Complete commitment to satisfying the security and uptime requirements of all database systems with rapid restoration of services after down-time. Utmost dedication and flexibility over working arrangements to support existing systems and meeting business led project deadlines.
* Have a "can-do" attitude and when dealing with customer issues. Promote a sense of urgency on prioritisation and immediacy in effort undertaken. Must command respect of peers, be excellent at both written and verbal English interpersonal communications skills, with IT and non-IT staff.
* Good strong documenter with dedicated commitment to producing timely quality outputs. Experience of working within a controlled environment with good understanding of control processes and procedures.
* Good SQL and reasonable PL/SQL knowledge.
* Understanding of Oracle software licencing issues.
